WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (5-4, 3-0) remained unbeaten in Conference Carolinas play with a 79-61 triumph over rival Mount Olive (2-6, 0-4) Wednesday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.

Leah Hampton (Richmond, Va.) led all scorers with 18 points while sophomore guard
Layne Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) added 15 points and the duo combined for seven treys as the Bulldogs won their third straight contest.
Barton scored 48 of its 79 points after intermission including a 27-point third quarter and led by as many as 28 points: 73-48 with 5:28 remaining in the final stanza.
Mount Olive was led by Kayla Jackson (Springville, Utah) with 12 points but the Bulldogs held a 53-46 advantage in rebounding and was powered by a 23-of-32 performance (72 percent) from the charity stripe.
Barton hits the road to take on Livingstone on Saturday in Salisbury, N.C., beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Mount Olive, meanwhile, travels to Winston-Salem, N.C., to take on Winston-Salem on Saturday afternoon starting at 2:00 p.m., as well.
