WILSON, N.C. – The Barton field hockey team (0-15, 0-10) closed out its first-ever season of competition with a 4-0 setback to Wingate (10-6, 6-4) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
Wingate is the third seed in the 2025 SAC Championship and will host fifth-seeded Converse in the quarterfinals on Monday, November 4, starting at 6:00 p.m.
Wingate's Kayleigh Haines (Lusby, Md.) led the way with a pair of goals as the visitors swept the season series from the home team.
Wingate's Colleen Emanuele (Massapequa, N.Y.) played three of the four periods and earned the victory in goal while junior goalkeeper
Gracyn Arruda (Richmond, Va.) made five stops but suffered the loss for Barton.
Wingate also held a 25-4 edge in shots taken in the triumph.
