Barton women’s basketball picks up 69-64 road conference victory over North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (9-8, 5-4) made it two wins in a row with a 69-64 triumph over North Greenville (4-11, 4-5) Monday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Hayes Gymnasium.

Barton graduate student guard Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) led all scorers with 28 points to go along with four three-pointers in the victory.  Walker, a four-time all-league honoree, currently ranks eighth on the Bulldogs' all-time scoring list with 1,683 points.

Trailing by a 64-61 score with just under two minutes remaining in the contest, the Bulldogs ended the game by scoring the final eight points including the game-winning three-pointer with 26 seconds by Walker to break a 64-all tie.

Junior guard Lauren Mingo (Clinton, Md.) neared a double-double – nine points and nine rebounds – in addition to six assists as well for the Bulldogs, who limited the Trailblazers to just 37 percent shooting (23-of-62) for the contest in the setback.

North Greenville was led by Ja'Mari Frederick (Blythewood, S.C.) with a team-high 20 points but the home team suffered its second straight loss.

Barton returns home to host rival Mount Olive on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., in Wilson Gymnasium while North Greenville hosts Converse in league action Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m.
