ANDERSON, S.C. – The Barton softball team (9-11) lost both games of a doubleheader to Anderson (9-11), 8-2 and 8-4, Friday afternoon at the Trojans Complex.
Game One – Anderson 8, Barton 2
The Trojans' Paige Vickery (Commerce, Ga.) hit a grand slam in the second inning while Maddie Carpenter (Hickory, N.C.) added a solo round-tripper to lead the home team to the win.
Barton lost despite a two-run home run from junior second baseman

Anderson's Morgen Baker-Celis (Kentfield, Calif.) (3-2) earned the win while Katie Morris (Valley, Ala.) pitched three scoreless innings for her first save of the year. Senior
Miranda Holmes (Godwin, N.C.) fell to 7-4 after taking the loss for the Bulldogs.
Game Two – Anderson 8, Barton 4
Trailing by a 1-0 score, the Trojans took control with a five-run second inning highlighted by a three-run home run from Lauren Brakovec (Knoxville, Tenn.) as Anderson completed the sweep.
The Bulldogs lost despite home runs from sophomore outfielder
Makenzie Cyzick (Dayton, Va.) and junior outfielder
Gracelyn Massey (Princeton, N.C.). Massey finished with three runs batted in despite the loss.
On the mound, Laken Maxwell (Bowdon, Ga.) improved to 5-5 on the season after going the distance and striking out 13 batters for Anderson. Barton junior
Kierstin Cooper (Nashville, N.C.) (2-2) was tagged with the loss.
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play on Wednesday, March 13, at Noon in a doubleheader against Chowan in Murfreesboro, N.C., while Anderson hosts Catawba on Sunday at Noon.
