CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (9-8) lost in five sets to Queens University of Charlotte (7-13), an NCAA Division I school, by a 3-2 score on Wednesday evening at the Levine Center.
The Royals won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-21, 21-25, 25-20, 22-25 and 15-6 to snap a six-match losing streak.
Queens was led by Jack Brinkman (Powell, Ohio) with a match-high 22 kills and was one of four Royals to hit double figures in kills on the evening. Albert Warzocha (Rzesow, POLAND) added a double-double – 11 kills and 11 digs – as the Royals held a 66-46 advantage in kills in the win.

Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) came through with a team-high 16 kills to go along with 12 digs for a double-double and freshman outside hitter
Luke Deppe (Mukwonago, Wisc.) chipped in with 13 kills despite the loss. Sophomore setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wisc.) finished with 41 assists as well for the Bulldogs, who totaled 15 blocks as a team.
The Royals' Matt Mongin (Orlando, Fla.) finished with 47 assists as Queens was able to pull out the win despite 16 service errors.
Barton returns home to face North Greenville in a Conference Carolinas match on Friday, March 22, beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Wilson Gymnasium while Queens hosts Fort Valley State (Noon) and Tusculum (6:00 p.m.) on Saturday.
