SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (7-13, 6-5) defeated Converse (8-13, 4-8), 65-49, in a Conference Carolinas contest Saturday afternoon at Hannah Gymnasium.

Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) provided the offensive spark for the Bulldogs, tallying a game-high 30 points to go along with nine rebounds to near a double-double in addition to a 10-of-12 performance from the charity stripe in the triumph.
The Bulldogs, winners of two straight contests, moved back over .500 in league play this season and scored 45 points after intermission to erase a 23-20 halftime deficit.
Barton shot 56 percent (14-of-25) in the second half while freshman center
Nyla Powell (Rocky Mount, N.C.) also reached double figures for the visitors, totaling 11 points on the day. Barton shot 19-of-28 (68 percent) from the free throw line and forced the Valkyries into 16 turnovers.
Converse was led by Zariyah Washington (West Palm Beach, Fla.) with 13 points but the home team suffered its third consecutive setback.
Barton remains on the road to take on Chowan on Wednesday, February 7, at 5:00 p.m., in Murfreesboro, N.C., in a league contest while Converse takes on Allen in Columbia, S.C., on Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m.
