YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Barton men's basketball team (12-15, 9-8) fell to Young Harris (16-11, 10-7), 89-77, Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at The Harp Recreation & Commencement Center.
The Mountain Lions' Carl Cleveland (Commerce, Ga.) and Karl Chavis (Chesapeake, Va.) both scored a team-high 18 points as Young Harris jumped out to a 40-28 advantage at halftime and slowly pulled away in the second half for the win.
Barton was paced senior guard
Reese McDonald (Raleigh, N.C.) with 19 points as the Bulldogs got to within one point on several occasions after intermission but couldn't overtake the Mountain Lions.
Young Harris was also able to pull out the victory thanks to its performance from the charity stripe – 27-of-36 (75 percent) – and held a 39-36 edge on the boards.

Jett Fortuny (Cary, N.C.) added 13 points and three treys in the losing effort.
Barton takes on rival Mount Olive in a Conference Carolinas contest on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., in Mount Olive, N.C., while Young Harris visits Tigerville, S.C., to face North Greenville Wednesday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
