WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (7-18, 6-10) suffered a 96-68 defeat to Francis Marion (18-7, 13-3) Wednesday in a Conference Carolinas contest at Shuford Gymnasium.
The Patriots' Jada Richards (Douglasville, Ga.) led all scorers with 26 points in addition to six treys while Trinity Adams (Rock Hill, S.C.) added 21 points as Francis Marion completed the season sweep of Barton.
Barton, which lost is fifth straight contest, was paced by sophomore guard
Lauren Mingo (Clinton, Md.) with 19 points and senior guard
Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) chipped in with 17 points but the Bulldogs fell in what is quite possibly the final home game for 35-year mentor
Wendee Saintsing.
Walker moved into the top 10 on the Bulldogs' all-time scoring list in the NCAA Division II era and now has 1,322 points in her collegiate career.
The Patriots hit 12 three-pointers in the contest while five players reached double figures for the visitors in the win.
Barton hits the road to take on Young Harris on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in Young Harris, Ga., in a league contest while Francis Marion returns home to take on King on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m.
