WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (11-14, 8-7) scored early and often in putting Belmont Abbey (10-15, 8-7) away in a 98-69 victory Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Wilson Gymnasium.

Jett Fortuny (Cary, N.C.) led all scorers with a season-high 22 points including seven treys as the Bulldogs raced to a 38-6 advantage and never looked back in the victory.

Trevon Spencer (Columbia, N.C.) added 17 points and senior guard
Reese McDonald (Raleigh, N.C.) totaled 16 points and dished out eight assists as five players reached double figures for the Bulldogs, who 62 percent (36-of-58) from the game and knocked down 14 three-pointers in the rout.
Belmont Abbey's D.J. Holloway (Fort Belvoir, Va.) finished with a team-high 13 points but the Crusaders simply lost their way early in the game and never recovered. The Crusaders hit just eight-of-33 (24 percent) three-point attempts and were forced into 14 turnovers in the losing effort.
Barton hosts Francis Marion as a part of Senior Day on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., in a league contest while Belmont Abbey hosts King Wednesday night beginning at 7:00 p.m.
