WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (7-16, 6-8) fell to UNC Pembroke (18-6, 12-2) by a 60-52 score on Thursday night in a Conference Carolinas game at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Braves' Kalaya Hall (Beulaville, N.C.) finished with a team-high 17 points while Zaria Clark (Stanley, N.C.) added 12 points as UNC Pembroke swept the season series from Barton and won its sixth straight contest.
Barton sophomore guard
Skylar Quillet (Garner, N.C.) led all scorers with 18 points but the Bulldogs shot just 39 percent (22-of-57) from the field and hit just two-of-eight free throws in the setback.
UNC Pembroke also forced Barton into 20 turnovers as the home team lost its third straight contest. Kelci Adams (Fort Mill, S.C.) also scored in double figures for the Braves, finishing with 11 points in the contest. UNC Pembroke remained a half-game behind Francis Marion in the league's East Division standings as well.
Barton hosts Belmont Abbey for Senior Day on Saturday at Wilson Gymnasium beginning at 2:00 p.m., in a league contest while UNC Pembroke hosts Francis Marion on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
