WILSON, N.C. – The Barton softball team (3-5) bounced back with a doubleheader sweep of West Virginia Tech (0-2), 9-0 and 10-3, Saturday afternoon at Jeffries Field.
Game One – Barton 9, West Virginia Tech 0

Miranda Holmes (Godwin, N.C.) improved to 2-2 on the season after throwing a one-hit shutout while striking out 13 batters as the Bulldogs run-ruled the Golden Bears.
The Bulldogs broke the contest open with a six-run fourth inning highlighted by a bases-clearing double by sophomore outfielder
Makenzie Cyzick (Dayton, Va.) and junior first baseman
Gracelyn Massey (Princeton, N.C.). The Golden Bears' Taylor Dickerson (Mount Lookout, W.Va.) (0-1) suffered the loss.
Game Two – Barton 10, West Virginia Tech 3
The Bulldogs pounded out a season-high 13 hits including six doubles as Barton swept West Virginia Tech.
Three players – Cyzick, Massey and senior catcher
Sydney Wade (Farmville, N.C.) – all had a pair of hits and two runs batted in while Holmes (3-2) earned the victory in relief. Holmes pitched nearly five innings of scoreless softball while striking out 11 batters to earn the win.
For West Virginia Tech, Sydney Sheets (Danese, W.Va.) drove in a pair of runs while Kaylie Lawrence (Greenup, Ky.) (0-1) suffered the loss.
Barton remains at home to take on West Chester (9:30 a.m.) and Frostburg State (Noon) on Saturday, February 17, while West Virginia Tech faces Chowan in Murfreesboro, N.C., on Sunday in a doubleheader at Noon.
