BLUFFTON, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (6-3) stepped out of conference play and defeated USC Beaufort (1-6), 60-47, Tuesday evening at The Cove.

Lauren Mingo (Clinton, Md.) led all scorers with 22 points as the Bulldogs won their second consecutive contest.
The Bulldogs scored the first seven points of the contest and never trailed in the entire contest, pushing their advantage to as many as 16 points late in the contest: 60-44 with just under a minute left in the contest.

Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) and freshman guard
Leah Hampton (Richmond, Va.) both scored in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively, and the Bulldogs limited the Sharks to just 29 percent shooting (17-of-58) from the floor.
USC Beaufort's Lydia Gattozzi (Chardon, Ohio) led the home team with 16 points but the Sharks connected on just three-of-21 shots (14 percent) from behind the three-point line but the Sharks suffered their fourth straight setback.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Saturday when the Bulldogs travel to Murfreesboro, N.C., to take on Chowan beginning at 2:00 p.m., while USC Beaufort faces Augusta in Augusta, Ga., on Saturday, December 7, starting at 1:00 p.m.
