WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (6-5, 2-2) put its four-game losing streak to an emphatic end with a 98-67 win over Francis Marion (3-7, 1-2) in a Conference Carolinas game Saturday afternoon at Wilson Gymnasium.

Shawn Nelson (Miami, Fla.) notched a double-double – 20 points and 10 rebounds – while senior guard
Jett Fortuny (Cary, N.C.) added 16 points to go along with four three-pointers as the Bulldogs raced to a 51-35 advantage at halftime and never let their foot off the gas in the victory.
Barton led by as many as 35 points late in the second half and held a 52-38 edge on the boards in the victory. The Bulldogs also connected on 26-of-34 free throw attempts (77 percent) while 11 players found the scoreboard for the home team.
Francis Marion's Jordyn Surratt (Spartanburg, S.C.) led the visitors with 16 points but the Patriots shot just 38 percent (12-of-61) from the floor and 57 percent (18-of-32) from the charity stripe in suffering their fourth straight setback.
Barton travels to Bristol, Tenn., to take on King in a league contest Tuesday beginning at Noon while Francis Marion faces Converse on Tuesday starting at 4:00 p.m., in Spartanburg, S.C., in a conference affair as well.
