Barton women’s basketball stumbles against USC Aiken, 52-45, at home

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (4-3) suffered a 52-45 setback to USC Aiken (3-4) Tuesday evening in a Conference Carolinas game at Wilson Gymnasium.

The Pacers' Paris Webster (Raleigh, N.C.) led all scorers off the bench with 16 points while Rhiannon Saller (Beecher, Ill.) added 12 points as the visitors won their third straight contest.

Barton, who saw its three-game winning streak snapped, was led by graduate student guard Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) with 13 points and junior guard Lauren Mingo (Clinton, Md.) added 12 points but the current Conference Carolinas Players-of-the-Week couldn't pull the Bulldogs through.

Barton was held to a season-low in points and hit just three-of-18 (17 percent) from behind the three-point line.  USC Aiken also held a 51-37 advantage on the boards and connected on 11-of-12 (92 percent) free throw attempts in the win.

With the score tied at 31 with just under two minutes remaining in the third stanza, Saller connected on a jump shot which proved to be the game-winner.

Barton remains at home to take on Erskine in a Conference Carolinas contest on Saturday, November 30, at 2:00 p.m., while USC Aiken faces Lander on Saturday, December 7, at 1:30 p.m., in a Peach Belt game in Greenwood, S.C.
