WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (3-9, 2-1) reached a milestone victory with a 74-57 triumph over Chowan (3-5, 3-1) Wednesday evening in its Conference Carolinas home opener at Wilson Gymnasium. The win was No. 600 for 35-year mentor

Barton, which won its second straight league contest, was led by sophomore guard
Lauren Mingo (Clinton, Md.) with a game-high 22 points while senior guard
Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) added 18 points to go along with four treys in the win.
The Hawks were paced by Yasmine Brown (Suffolk, Va.) with 13 points but the Hawks turned the ball over 23 times which turned into 38 points for the home team.
Barton never trailed in the contest and led by as many as 21 points – 71-50 with 6:40 remaining in the final stanza – and hit eight treys in the triumph.
Barton hits the road to take on North Greenville in a Conference Carolinas game on Saturday, January 6, at 2:00 p.m., in Tigerville, S.C., while Chowan travels to Due West, S.C., to face Erskine on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., as well.
