ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-1) opened the 2024 season with a 3-1 setback to Fairleigh Dickinson (1-1), an NCAA Division I school, Friday afternoon at the JBJ Battle for the Boardwalk at Harrah's Resort and Casino.
The Knights, who won over the Bulldogs by scores of 18-25, 25-21, 25-22 and 25-22, picked up their first victory of the year.
Fairleigh Dickinson's Jamal Ellis Carballo (Bayamon, PUERTO RICO) led the way with a match-high 16 kills while Mihajlo Rodic (Clifton, N.J.) added 10 kills as the Knights picked up their first win of the year. Jose Angarita (Bucaramanga, Santander, COLOMBIA) totaled 36 assists for Fairleigh Dickinson, who rallied from a 1-0 deficit to take the win.

Jack Sandahl (Gloucester, Va.) and senior outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) with nine and eight kills, respectively, despite the setback.

Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wisc.) added 36 assists and a pair of service aces for the Bulldogs in the losing effort.
Barton wraps up the tournament on Saturday with matches against St. Thomas Aquinas (9:30 a.m.) and Sacred Heart (5:00 p.m.).
