FLORENCE, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (4-10, 3-2) saw its three-game winning streak snapped with a 97-76 setback to Francis Marion (9-5, 5-1) Wednesday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at the Smith University Center.
The Patriots, who have won three straight contests themselves, were led by Trinity Adams (Rock Hill, S.C.) with a game-high 31 points while Lauryn Taylor (Blythewood, S.C.) tallied a double-double – 22 points and 15 rebounds – as the home team shot 53 percent (32-of-60) for the game and connected on 25-of-29 (86 percent) from the charity stripe in the triumph.

Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) finished with a team-high 18 points on six treys while sophomore guard
Lauren Mingo (Clinton, Md.), the reigning league defensive player of the week, added 16 points in the setback.
The Patriots stretched their advantage to as many as 26 points – 88-62 with 5:39 remaining in the contest – and held a 46-29 edge on the boards in the victory. Barton sophomore forward
Erial Owens (Powder Springs, Ga.) also reached double figures off the bench, totaling 12 points in the loss.
Barton returns home to take on Emmanuel in a Conference Carolinas contest on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m., at Wilson Gymnasium in a league contest while Francis Marion travels to Banner Elk, N.C., to face Lees-McRae Saturday at 2:00 p.m., as well.
