MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (8-9, 4-2) shut out rival Mount Olive (9-10, 5-1), 7-0, in a key Conference Carolinas road match Tuesday afternoon at the John Neal Walker Center.
Barton was led by a trio of players – sophomores
Tilde Howeler (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and
Silvia Fernandez-Trabadelo (Mataro, SPAIN) and freshman
Alexandra Saez Lozano (Begur, SPAIN) – won earned victories in singles and doubles action.
The Bulldogs handed the Trojans their first league loss of the year and snapped Mount Olive's six-match winning streak.

Irma Granstam (Linkoping, SWEDEN) improved to 11-2 on the season including a 4-1 mark in singles play at first doubles thanks to their 6-3 victory over Liza Voloshyna (Kherson, UKRAINE) and Nele Weber (Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, GERMANY).
Barton returns home to take on Emmanuel on Friday beginning at 2:00 p.m., in a league match while Mount Olive travels to Bristol, Tenn., to take on King Friday at 2:00 p.m., as well.
