ETTRICK, Va. – The Barton baseball team (26-18) picked up a 13-0 road shutout win over Virginia State (18-22) on Tuesday afternoon at Whaley Corbett Field.

Tanner Halvorson (Eau Claire, Wisc.) and junior outfielder
Raymond Paniagua (Blue Springs, Mo.) both drove in three runs while Halvorson hit a two-run home run – his sixth round-tripper of the year – as the Bulldogs completed the season sweep of the Trojans and won both contests by a combined score of 24-0.
Barton took control early with a four-run first inning highlighted by a two-run single from Paniagua and never looked back. The Bulldogs also plated six runs in the eighth frame to turn the contest into a rout.
On the hill, freshman
Grayson Myrick (Greenville, N.C.) earned the victory in relief after throwing a pair of scoreless innings to go along with three strikeouts for the Bulldogs. Virginia State's Coron Wallace (Richmond, Va.) fell to 2-3 after taking the loss.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Friday when the Bulldogs travel to Murfreesboro, N.C., to take on Chowan Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Virginia State faces Salem in a doubleheader on Friday starting at 1:00 p.m., in Salem, W.Va.
