WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (9-7) advanced in the 2023 Conference Carolinas Championship with a 19-10 victory over Chowan (4-11) in the opening round on Monday at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
Barton, the fourth seed in the tournament, moves on to take on top-seeded Belmont Abbey (10-3) in the semifinals on Thursday beginning at 4:00 p.m., at the University of Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C.

Mason Chaney (Dunkirk, Md.) finished with a match-high six goals to go along with three assists and became the second player in school history to hit the 200-point mark for his career as the Bulldogs defeated the Hawks for the second time this season. Chaney leads the squad with 45 goals so far this spring.

B.J. Wilson (Tampa, Fla.) both scored three times as the Bulldogs broke open a close contest at halftime. The Bulldogs held a 10-8 lead at intermission before scoring the first four goals of the third period to take control.
Barton held sizable advantages in both shots taken (59-21) and ground balls (50-21) and won 29-of-32 faceoffs in the triumph. In goal, freshman
Alexander Stewart (Harford County, Md.) played the first half and made a pair of saves while earning the victory.
For fifth-seeded Chowan, Eric George (Stony Plain, Alberta, CANADA) scored four goals while Gavin Koors (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) made 20 saves but suffered the loss in goal.
