WILSON, N.C. – The Barton softball team (19-19, 10-8) swept a key Conference Carolinas doubleheader from King (24-19, 9-5), 12-4 and 4-2, Saturday afternoon at Jeffries Field.
Game One – Barton 12, King 4 (five innings)
Barton sophomore designated hitter
Gracelyn Massey (Princeton, N.C.) ended the contest with a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Bulldogs run-ruled the Tornado.

Emily Bell (Bunn, N.C.) and senior third baseman
Lindsey Massengill (Pine Level, N.C.) all finished with three runs batted in while senior first baseman
Sloane Correa (Greenville, N.C.) hit a solo home run in the victory.
Barton junior
Miranda Holmes (Godwin, N.C.) (4-7) earned the victory after going the distance while King's Carly Turner (Springfield, Ohio) (1-3) suffered the loss. King's Lauren Lawson (Knoxville, Tenn.) hit a solo home run in the losing effort.
Game Two – Barton 4, King 2
Barton freshman outfielder
Makenzie Cyzick (Dayton, Va.) hit a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Bulldogs to the sweep of the Tornado.
Barton senior
AnnaKate Gilchrist (Clayton, N.C.) improved to 4-4 with the complete game victory. Gilchrist struck out nine batters while allowing just one unearned run. Meanwhile, King's Tinsley Thompson (Gallatin, Tenn.) hit a solo home run but Madison Walter (Lebanon, Pa.) (7-5) took the loss.
Barton remains at home to take on Lees-McRae on Sunday afternoon in a conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m., while King takes on Chowan Sunday in a doubleheader in Murfreesboro, N.C., starting at Noon.
