FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Barton baseball team (18-13, 11-7) split a road Conference Carolinas doubleheader with Emmanuel (19-15, 9-9) Saturday afternoon at Tom Carrey Field. The Bulldogs took care of the Lions in the first contest by a 14-3 score while Emmanuel turned up the offense in the nightcap to salvage the split, 21-11.

Carelle Gonzalez (Bridgeton, N.J.) hit a three-run home run as part of a five-run second frame to open the scoring while sophomore catcher
Chase Waddell (Lucama, N.C.) added four runs batted in to lead the Bulldogs to the win.

Tanner Halvorson (Eau Claire, Wisc.) improved to 6-2 on the season after picking up the victory while Emmanuel's Ethan Pooler (2-3) was tagged with the loss.
Game Two – Emmanuel 21, Barton 11
The Lions' Nick Dietsch (Mission Viejo, Calif.) hit a grand slam and Emmanuel was able to overcome an eight-run second inning by the Bulldogs to salvage the split.
Gonzalez added another home run while junior outfielder
Joshua Hoffman (Belle Vernon, Pa.) hit a three-run round-tripper as part of that eight-run second frame for Barton in the setback.
Emmanuel's Barrett Barkley (Macon, Ga.) (1-0) earned the victory in relief while junior
Brett Anderson (Milford, N.H.) fell to 2-2 after taking the loss for the Bulldogs, who were hurt by five errors which led to eight unearned runs for the Lions.
Barton returns home to take on Catawba on Tuesday beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Emmanuel faces Georgia College on the road on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m., in Milledgeville, Ga.
