HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (2-6) handed Fairmont State (4-1) its first loss of the year with a 5-2 triumph Monday morning during the Bulldogs' second day of their Spring Break Trip to the coast of South Carolina.
Barton was led by freshman
Irma Granstam (Linkoping, SWEDEN) and
Alexandra Saez Lozano (Begur, SPAIN). Both players earned victories at singles and doubles for the Bulldogs.
Barton sophomore
Tilde Howeler (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and Granstam improved to 4-1 on the year as a tandem at No. 1 doubles with a 6-1 victory over Fairmont State's Maria Fonseca and Elode Buclin.
The Professional Tennis Registry's Tennis Spring Fest continues on Tuesday when Barton takes on Millersville (Pa.) while Fairmont State faces Lewis beginning at 3:00 p.m.
