WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (5-2) nearly pulled off an upset but fell to No. 7 Rollins (5-0), 11-10, Monday night at Barker Family Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field.
Rollins' Grant Hansen (Medford, N.J.) and Justin Spencer (Mendon, Mass.) both scored three goals as the Tars rallied from a 9-7 deficit at the end of the third period to take the victory and remain unbeaten on the season.
Hansen tallied the match-winning goal at the 8:53 mark of the fourth quarter while sophomore goalkeeper Bradley Peterson (Eustis, Fla.) earned the win after stopping eight shots. Rollins held advantages in both shots taken (43-27) and ground balls (32-17) in the triumph as well.
Barton was led by graduate student and midfielder
Mark Crawford (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) with four goals while senior forward
Mason Chaney (Dunkirk, Md.) scored three times in the losing effort. Chaney leads the team in both points scored (23) and total points (31) this year.

Drew Wheeler (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.), who was named the Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, suffered the loss despite 12 saves.
Barton remains away from home to take on Lander on Saturday, March 11, beginning at 2:00 p.m., at Nations Ford High School in Fort Mill, S.C., while Rollins takes on Colorado Mesa Saturday at 3:00 p.m., in Salt Lake City, Utah.
