WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis team (5-8, 2-1) defeated Lees-McRae (2-7, 1-3) by a 4-3 score Friday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at the Bulldogs Complex.
The Bulldogs swept the doubles competition to earn the point before taking the fourth, fifth and sixth matches in singles action to earn the victory.
Barton was led by freshman
Guillem Busquets Brau (Sabadell, SPAIN), who earned wins at fourth singles and second doubles. His victory over Lees-McRae's Ezequiel Arce (Luque, PARAGUAY) by a score of 6-1, 4-6 and 6-2 helped seal the win for the Bulldogs.
In addition, the tandem of sophomore
Hannes Tylehed (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and freshman
Felipe Mioch (Diemen, NETHERLANDS) improved to 3-0 in doubles play in conference this year for Barton.
Barton remains at home to face King on Saturday morning in league action beginning at 10:00 a.m., while Lees-McRae takes on Chowan in Murfreesboro, N.C., Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
