CENTRAL, S.C. – The Barton softball team (12-14, 3-3) swept Southern Wesleyan (2-24, 0-8) in dominant fashion in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader, 12-4 and 19-7, Friday afternoon at Varsity Field.
Game One – Barton 12, Southern Wesleyan 4

Makenzie Cyzick (Dayton, Va.) finished with three hits and three runs batted in and was one of four Bulldogs to register at least three hits in the victory.
Barton plated three runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. The Bulldogs broke the contest open with a five-run fourth frame while Cyzick came through with a two-run double in the seventh inning.

Miranda Holmes (Godwin, N.C.) (2-3) earned the victory in relief while Southern Wesleyan's Emma Jo Wolfe (South Hill, Va.) (0-6) was tagged with the loss. The Warriors' Talissa Cannady (Abbeville, S.C.) hit a two-run home run in the losing effort.
Game Two – Barton 19, Southern Wesleyan 7

Mary Lindsey Harris (Robersonville, N.C.) finished with three hits and five runs batted in as the Bulldogs scored a season-high in runs to complete the sweep of Southern Wesleyan.

Lindsey Massengill (Pine Level, N.C.) drove in three runs in the victory for the visitors.

Shelby Talley (Oxford, N.C.) (1-0) earned her first victory of the season in relief while Southern Wesleyan's Autumn Barnhardt (Pickens, S.C.) suffered the loss. The Warriors' Sarah Prater (Dallas, Ga.) hit a two-run home run for the home team.
Barton takes on North Greenville in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on Saturday beginning at Noon in Tigerville, S.C., while Southern Wesleyan hosts Chowan in a doubleheader Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
