WINGATE, N.C. – The Barton softball team (10-14) fell in a doubleheader to No. 18 Wingate (29-8), 10-0 and 8-1, Tuesday afternoon on the road. Wingate has now beaten Barton four times this season.
Game One – Wingate 10, Barton 0 (five innings)
Wingate hit three home runs on the day including a grand slam from Savanna Brooks (Wingate, N.C.) and a three-run round-tripper from Raelynn Kramer (New Bern, N.C.) in the run-ruled victory.
Wingate's Jillian Thomas (Wingate, N.C.) improved to 4-1 on the season after pitching four scoreless innings while sophomore
Kierstin Cooper (Nashville, N.C.) (3-3) was tagged with the loss.
Game Two – Wingate 8, Barton 1
For the second straight game, Brooks hit a home run and drove in four runs as Wingate completed the sweep and improved to 16-0 at home this year. Meanwhile, Hali Scott (Pilot Mountain, N.C.) improved to 8-3 on the season after allowing just one unearned run over five innings of work.

Miranda Holmes (Godwin, N.C.) (1-2) was tagged with the loss.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play with a doubleheader on Friday against Southern Wesleyan in Central, S.C., starting at 2:00 p.m., while Wingate faces Tusculum in a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at Noon in Greeneville, Tenn.
