MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis team (4-7, 1-0) picked up its second straight victory with a 6-1 win over Chowan (0-11, 0-1) in the Conference Carolinas opener Saturday afternoon at the Rose Family Complex.
Three players for the Bulldogs – sophomores
Hannes Tylehed (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and
Johan Holgersson (Bromma, SWEDEN) and freshman
Felipe Mioch (Diemen, NETHERLANDS) – picked up victories in both singles and doubles action in the victory.
Mioch's victory over Chowan's Santino Jose Sormani (San Luis, ARGENTINA) – 6-2, 3-6 and 6-3 – was his fourth straight win at No. 2 singles. Mioch is 7-4 in singles play this season.
In the next round of conference matches on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., Barton remains at home to face Francis Marion while Chowan plays Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C.
