WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (9-9, 5-5) made it six victories in a row with a 7-4 triumph over Belmont Abbey (15-6, 4-6) Friday afternoon at Nixon Field.

Tanner Halvorson (Eau Claire, Wis.) hit his team-leading leading third home run of the season while senior
Brett Widerman (Wilmington, N.C.) (1-2) earned his first victory of the year after limiting the Crusaders to just two runs of seven innings of work.
Widerman struck out six batters while junior
Brett Anderson (Milford, N.H.) pitched the final two innings for his second save of the season.
Barton sophomore catcher
Chase Waddell (Lucama, N.C.) broke a two-all tie with a sacrifice fly in the third frame for what would be the game-winning run.
For Belmont Abbey, Ben Ferguson (Chandler, Ariz.) hit a solo home run while Gianni Smith (Winston-Salem, N.C.) fell to 3-2 after being tagged with the loss.
Barton and Belmont Abbey wrap up the Conference Carolinas weekend series on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Nixon Field.
