CENTRAL, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (8-17, 8-10) fell to Southern Wesleyan (9-18, 9-10) by a 74-58 score in a Conference Carolinas contest Saturday afternoon at Tysinger Gymnasium.
The Warriors, who won their fourth straight game, were led by Lexi Greffen (Portsmouth, R.I.) with 18 points while Brittany Mack (Spartanburg, S.C.) added 17 points as Southern Wesleyan avenged an earlier regular season loss to Barton.
Barton freshman forward
Lauren Mingo (Clinton, Md.) finished with 11 points but was the lone player to score in double figures for the Bulldogs, who suffered their second straight loss. The Bulldogs shot just 31 percent (21-of-68) from the floor and hit only four of 23 treys in the setback as well.
Southern Wesleyan jumped out to a 40-20 halftime lead and never looked back. Greffen connected on all three-point attempts and the Warriors hit their first 13 free throw attempts on the day. Southern Wesleyan finished 18-of-23 from the charity stripe.
Barton travels to Murfreesboro, N.C., to take on Chowan in the regular season finale on Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m., while Southern Wesleyan faces King in Bristol, Tenn., on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
