WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (14-10, 12-5) remained in the upper echelon of the Conference Carolinas standings with an 87-85 victory over King (6-17, 5-11) Saturday afternoon at Wilson Gymnasium.

Marcus Boykin (Clinton, N.C.) led all scorers with 31 points while senior guard
Trevon Spencer (Columbia, N.C.) added 20 points off the bench as the Bulldogs held on for the victory after taking a 19-point advantage in the second half to sweep the season series from the Tornado.
With the score tied at 85, Boykin sank a pair of free throws with three seconds left to preserve the win. Boykin added 13 rebounds and five assists as the Bulldogs shot 51 percent (34-of-67) from the field in the triumph. Barton junior guard
Donaven Hairston (Atlanta, Ga.) also scored in double figures, totaling 13 points to go along with three of the Bulldogs' 10 steals.
King – which trailed by a 66-47 margin with 13:37 left in the contest – was paced by Michael Mays (Bristol, Tenn.) with a team-high 27 points as the visitors rallied to tie the contest late in the game but ultimately fell. King's Darron Howard (Harvest, Ala.) added 18 points in the losing effort.
Barton remains at home to take Francis Marion on Wednesday evening at Wilson Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while King returns home to host Lees-McRae on Monday starting at 7:30 p.m.
