WISE, Va. – The Barton women's basketball team (1-9) couldn't hold an eight-point advantage midway through the fourth period and fell to UVA Wise (5-5) by a 78-73 score on Monday afternoon at the David L. Prior Convention Center.
The Cavaliers' Caitlyn Ross (Kingston, Tenn.) led the home team with 24 points and was one of four players to score in double figures for UVA Wise, who rallied from a 65-57 deficit with just over five minutes left to take the win.
UVA Wise's Sarah Burton (Clinton, Tenn.) scored the game-winning lay-up at the 2:44 mark of the final stanza and the Cavaliers used a 17-2 run late in the contest to take control.

Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) led all scorers with a season-high 32 points in addition to seven treys while sophomore guard
Lauren Mingo (Clinton, Md.) added 12 points in the losing effort.
UVA Wise outscored Barton by a 22-9 advantage in the fourth period and held a 45-25 edge in rebounding in the triumph. Barton senior guard
Cierra Revelle (Sanford, N.C.) hit three of the Bulldogs' 11 treys and finished with 10 points as well.
Barton next travels to Richmond, Va., to take on Virginia Union on Saturday, December 30, beginning at 2:00 p.m., while UVA Wise faces the University of Charleston on Saturday, December 30, as well in Charleston, S.C., at 2:00 p.m.
