AIKEN, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (0-6) was on the short end to USC Aiken (2-4), 86-63, Tuesday evening in a non-league regional contest at the Convocation Center.
The Pacers' Hailey Unger (Dayton, Ohio) led all scorers with 26 points as the USC Aiken built a 52-27 halftime advantage and never looked back in the victory.
Barton, still searching for its first victory of the year, was led by sophomore guard
Lauren Mingo (Clinton, Md.) with a team-high 21 points while senior guard
Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) and freshman sophomore forward
Erial Owens (Powder Springs, Ga.) added 15 and 12 points, respectively, but the Bulldogs hit just one-of-15 from behind the three-point line in the setback.
USC Aiken's Annalise Malone (Fayetteville, Tenn.) tallied a double-double – 12 points and 13 rebounds – as the home team held a 53-27 edge on the boards in the victory.
USC Aiken also snapped a four-game losing streak and shot 56 percent (35-of-63) from the floor in the triumph.
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play on the road as the Bulldogs take on Belmont Abbey on Saturday, December 2, at 2:00 p.m., in Belmont, N.C., while USC Aiken hosts Erskine Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m.
