HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-2) suffered a 3-0 setback to Lincoln Memorial (3-3) Saturday afternoon at Mary Mars Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs fell to the Railsplitters in three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-13 and 25-19.
Lincoln Memorial, winners of two straight contests, were led by Justin Sharfenaker (Columbus, Ohio) and Shay Spadaro (Oviedo, Fla.) with 11 kills each while the Railsplitters hit .416 for the match in the victory.
Barton was paced by junior outside hitter
Brandon Johnston (Hawkes Bay, NEW ZEALAND) with 11 kills to go along with a team-high seven digs while senior setter
Moses Kresch (Hershey, Pa.) added 21 assists and six digs in the losing effort for the visitors.
Barton was limited to a 0.93 hitting percentage and had six reception errors compared to none for the home team.
Barton hosts Randolph-Macon in its 2023 home opener on Friday beginning at 5:00 p.m., at Wilson Gymnasium while Lincoln Memorial faces Charleston (W.Va.) in Bristol, Tenn., on Thursday starting at 4:30 p.m.
