WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (2-11, 2-4) fought to the end but fell to rival Mount Olive (9-7, 5-3), 77-72, Wednesday evening in a Conference Carolinas game at Wilson Gymnasium.
Four players reached double figures for the Trojans – including a game-high 21 points from Laila Anderson (Burlington, N.C.) – as the visitors held on to win despite turning the ball over 28 times.
Barton was led by junior guard
Cierra Revelle (Sanford, N.C.) with a season-high 18 points to go along with four treys as the Bulldogs tried to rally at the end of the game but the Trojans were able to escape.
Trailing by a 73-61 score with just over a minute left in the contest, the Bulldogs scored eight straight points to cut the margin to four but the Trojans' Maleiya Hill (Durham, N.C.) hit a pair of free throws with 17 seconds left to ice the game.
Mount Olive held a 42-35 advantage on the boards in handing Barton its third straight loss in the process. Barton junior guard

In the next round of Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m., the Bulldogs host Belmont Abbey while Mount Olive travels to Franklin Springs, Ga., to face Emmanuel.
