WISE, Va. – The Barton College football team (2-1, 1-0) wrapped up a three-game road stand to start the 2022 season with a 40-20 victory over UVA Wise (1-2, 0-1) in the school's first game as an Associate Member of the South Atlantic Conference Saturday afternoon at Carl Smith Stadium and Beaty Richmond Field.

Jaquan Lynch (Rocky Mount, N.C.) rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns and added another scoring pass through the air as the Bulldogs reeled off 33 straight points after falling behind by a 14-7 score early in the second quarter.
After the Bulldogs recorded a safety to take the lead for good at 16-14 with 8:30 remaining in the third quarter, sophomore wide receiver
Kameron Johnson (Rocky Mount, N.C.) returned the ensuing kickoff 82 yards for a score for a nine-point advantage.
Lynch then scored rushing touchdowns of 32 and three yards, respectively, on consecutive drives to put the game out of reach. Lynch's latter score was set up by an 88-yard interception return by freshman linebacker
Matt Smith (Raleigh, N.C.) to the Cavalier's four-yard line. The Bulldogs' defense picked off two passes and registered four sacks on the day.

Jordan Terrell (Ramsuer, N.C.) also found the end zone for Barton while UVA Wise quarterback Lendon Redwine (Gate City, Va.) passed for 210 yards and a score in the losing effort.
Barton hosts Mars Hill next Saturday, September 24, in its 2022 home opener beginning at 2:00 p.m., at Truist Stadium while UVA Wise travels to Gaffney, S.C., to take on Limestone at 7:00 p.m.
