WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (8-10, 3-3) won easily over Southern Wesleyan (2-11, 1-5), 6-1, Friday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at the Bulldogs complex.
Barton won thanks to the quartet of freshmen
Maren Kronsbein (Ellerau, GERMANY),
Tilde Howeler (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and
Silvia Fernandez-Trabadelo (Barcelona, SPAIN) and senior
Isabella Caballero (La Paz, BOLIVIA). All four players won at singles and doubles action.
Kronsbein and Howeler teamed up at first doubles to beat Southern Wesleyan's Anya King (El Dorado, TRINIDAD & TOBAGO) and sophomore Natalie White (Mooresville, N.C.), 6-2. Caballero increased her winning streak in singles matches to five and has won three consecutive contests at doubles.
Barton remains at home to take on North Greenville in a league match Saturday morning beginning at 11:00 a.m., while Southern Wesleyan faces Chowan Saturday at Noon in Murfreesboro, N.C.
