FLORENCE, S.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (9-11, 4-4) suffered a very close setback to Francis Marion (12-4, 7-1), 4-3, Wednesday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Kassab Courts.
The Bulldogs had two match points but the Patriots were able to rally and pick up the win. Barton was led by senior
Isabella Caballero (La Paz, BOLIVIA), the lone Bulldog to earn victories in singles and doubles play.
Caballero's victory at fifth singles – 6-3, 6-1 over Francis Marion's Kim Venghaus (Senden, GERMANY) – was her seventh straight.
Caballero has also won five consecutive times at doubles, teaming with freshman
Silvia Fernandez-Trabadelo (Barcelona, SPAIN).
Barton returns home for Senior Day on Tuesday, April 19, when the Bulldogs host Chowan in a league match beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Francis Marion takes on Mount Olive on Tuesday in Mount Olive, N.C., at 3:00 p.m.
