DUE WEST, S.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (0-20) saw its season come to an end with a 3-0 setback to Erskine (13-17) Wednesday evening in a Conference Carolinas Championship opening round match at Belk Arena. The Flying Fleet defeated the Bulldogs by scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-19.
Erskine advances to the quarterfinals of the league tournament to take on fourth-seeded Emmanuel (18-14) on Tuesday, April 19, at 7:00 p.m., in Franklin Springs, Ga. The Flying Fleet are the fifth seed in the tournament while the Bulldogs are seeded fifth.
Erskine was led by Edgerrin Austin (Joliet, Ill.) with a match-high 16 kills and seven digs while Jason Sall (New Lenox, Ill.) added 11 kills as the Flying Fleet beat the Bulldogs for the third time this year. Erskine also hit .429 for the match in the victory.
Barton was led by freshman outside hitter
Jack Sandahl (Gloucester, Va.) with eight kills while freshman setter
Seth Deppe (Mukwonago, Wis.) added 25 assists in the losing effort.
