WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (12-7) fell to California (Pa.) (7-3) by a 9-4 score Wednesday night at Fleming Stadium as part of the Division II College Baseball Classic.
The Vulcans' Loudon Conte (California, Pa.) finished with three hits and three runs batted in including a two-run double in the third inning as California jumped out to a 5-1 advantage after three innings of play and stayed ahead by at least three runs the rest of the way.

Colby Warren (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) finished with four hits and two runs scored while junior designated hitter
Edward Landron (Orlando, Fla.) hit a two-run home run in the losing effort.
California's Jacob McCaskey (Tarentum, Pa.) (1-0) earned the win after striking out 12 batters and allowing just three runs over six innings of work while Barton sophomore
Blake Forney (Greencastle, Pa.) (1-1) was tagged with the loss.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Friday when the Bulldogs travel to Due West, S.C., to take on Erskine beginning at 2:00 p.m., while California (Pa.) faces Saint Rose on Thursday at 6:00 p.m., as part of the Classic.
