WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's tennis team (9-6, 2-1), ranked No. 19 in NCAA Division II, rebounded from a loss a day earlier to defeat Converse (6-6, 2-1), 5-2, Saturday morning at the Bulldogs complex in a Conference Carolinas match.
The Bulldogs got off a strong start by sweeping all three doubles' contests before taking four of the six singles' matches over the Valkyries.
Barton seniors
Diego Agudelo (Bogata, COLOMBIA) and
Oscar Marmestedt (Akersberga, SWEDEN) and freshman
Johan Holgersson (Bromma, SWEDEN) all earned victories in singles and doubles' action.
Agudelo, a three-time all-league honoree, rallied to defeat Converse's Leopold Morel by scores of 4-6, 6-1 and 10-6 at second singles to spark the Bulldogs.
Barton hits the court again on Tuesday when the Bulldogs host Shaw while Converse hosts Southern Wesleyan on Friday, April 1, at 1:00 p.m., in a league contest.
