WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (4-8, 1-1) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 5-2 triumph over Belmont Abbey (5-13, 0-2) in a Conference Carolinas contest Friday afternoon at the Bulldogs complex.
The Bulldogs were led by freshmen
Tilde Howeler (Stockholm, SWEDEN) and
Maren Kronsbein (Ellerau, GERMANY), who prevailed at singles and doubles for Barton.
The duo won at second doubles over Belmont Abbey's Frankee Hendricks (Largo, Fla.) and Laura Seib (Beverly Park, AUSTRALIA), 6-1 and 6-1.
Barton remains at home to take on Converse in a league contest on Saturday morning beginning at 11:00 a.m., while Belmont Abbey takes on Chowan Saturday at 11:00 a.m., as well in Murfreesboro, N.C.
