HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Barton men's tennis team (7-5) made it five wins in a row with a 4-2 triumph over Lewis (Ill.) (7-3) Friday morning at the Professional Tennis Registry's Spring Tennis Fest.
Barton was led by senior
Diego Agudelo (Bogata, COLOMBIA) and freshman
Hannes Tylehed (Stockholm, SWEDEN), who earned victories at singles and doubles action for the Bulldogs.
Tylehed teamed with freshman
Johan Holgersson (Bromma, SWEDEN) to win at third doubles over the Flyers' Oliwer Wierzbicki (Szczecin, POLAND) and Andrej Zoranovic (Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA), 7-6 (8-6) to help the Bulldogs earn the critical point.
In addition, Barton freshman
Kristoffer Staahlbrand (Oslo, NORWAY), the reigning Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Player of the Week, defeated Lewis' Juan Martin Ramirez Mejia (Medellin, COLOMBIA) in a thrilling 6-2, 2-6, 13-11 match at first singles.
Barton wraps up play in Hilton Head Island, S.C., on Saturday against Davis & Elkins at 8:30 a.m., while Lewis faces Benedict Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
