Barton women’s basketball subdued by Fayetteville State Monday at home

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (1-7) suffered a 72-52 defeat to the hands of Fayetteville State (4-3) Monday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.

The Broncos' Aniylah Bryant (Havelock, N.C.) finished with a game-high 14 points while Morgan Graham (Raleigh, N.C.) tallied a double-double – 13 points and 10 rebounds – as Fayetteville State jumped out to a 21-8 advantage at the end of the first period and never looked back in the win.

Barton was led by freshman guard Lauren Mingo (Clinton, Md.) with a double-double as well – 15 points and 11 rebounds – but was the lone player to score in double figures for the home team.

The Bulldogs were done in by 22 turnovers and shot just 25 percent (15-of-59) from the floor in the setback.  Fayetteville State held a 46-37 edge in rebounding in the win as well.  Barton junior guard Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) added nine points in the losing effort.

Barton remains at home to take on Chowan in a Conference Carolinas game Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., while Fayetteville State hosts Wingate Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
