TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (1-6, 1-1) suffered a 74-53 loss to North Greenville (1-7, 1-1) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at Hayes Gymnasium.

The Crusaders, who picked up their first victory of the season, were led by Angie Rodriguez (Orlando, Fla.) and Amareya Turner (Palatka, Fla.) with 17 points each and were two of four players to score in double figures for the home team in the win.

Barton was led by junior guard Leila Copeland (Reston, Va.) with a game-high 19 points while junior guard Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) also scored in double figures – finishing with 11 points – but the Bulldogs shot just 33 percent (22-of-66) from the field in the losing effort.

Trailing by a 13-9 score midway through the first quarter, North Greenville scored the next 15 points to take the lead for good.  The Crusaders, who led by as many as 30 points, shot 52 percent from the field (26-of-50) and held a 46-30 edge in rebounding.
