RALEIGH, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (1-5) suffered a 69-64 loss to Shaw (3-3) Tuesday evening at the C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
The Bears, winners of three consecutive contests, were led by Brittiney Seymour (Ewing, N.J.) with 22 points and 14 rebounds while Tanayja London (New Haven, Conn.) and Makenzie Pollard (Baltimore, Md.) added 15 points each in the win.
Barton was led by junior guard
Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) with 19 points and four three-pointers and junior guard
Cierra Revelle (Sanford, N.C.) totaled 17 points and hit five treys in the losing effort.
Trailing by a 62-59 score with just over three minutes remaining, Shaw reeled off seven straight points to take the lead for good, highlighted by Seymour's game-winning layup with 2:18 left in the contest.
The Bears limited the Bulldogs to just 31 percent shooting (21-of-67) for the contest. Freshman forward
Nyah Wilkins (Garner, N.C.) also scored in double figures for Barton, totaling 16 points on the night.
Barton will look to bounce back on Saturday, December 3, when the Bulldogs travel to Tigerville, S.C., to take on North Greenville in a Conference Carolinas contest beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Shaw hosts Virginia University of Lynchburg Friday at 6:00 p.m.
