WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (0-4) suffered a 65-45 loss to Coker (3-0) in the 2022-23 home opener for the Bulldogs Thursday night at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Cobras, who remained unbeaten on the young season, were led by Valicia Demeritte (Nassau, BAHAMAS) with 14 points and 14 rebounds as Coker saw nine players find the scoring book in the victory.

Lauren Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) led all scorers with 17 points but was the lone player to score in double figures for the Bulldogs, who were held to just 22 percent shooting (16-of-72) for the contest.
The Cobras held a 37-24 edge at halftime and maintained their advantage the rest of the way. Coker's defense also came up big with 10 blocked shots and visitors edged the home team by a 50-43 margin on the boards. Dasia Lambert (Mount Airy, N.C.) and Mya Wasswa (Columbia, S.C.) added nine points each for the Cobras.
Barton looks to bounce back on Tuesday, November 22, when the Bulldogs host Southern Wesleyan in their Conference Carolinas opener at 5:00 p.m., while Fayetteville State travels to Coker on Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
