WILSON, N.C. – The Barton football team (3-6, 2-5) snapped its five-game losing streak in emphatic fashion with a 38-21 victory over Catawba (1-8, 0-7) Saturday afternoon in front of over 3,500 fans on Homecoming at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.

Jordan Terrell (Ramseur, N.C.) rushed for a career-high 302 yards and four touchdowns including scoring runs of 68 and 53 yards, respectively, as part of a 21-point fourth quarter in the Bulldogs' South Atlantic Conference Piedmont Division win. Both long runs were one-play drives as Barton regrouped after seeing a 17-point lead disappear.
Catawba, which rallied from a 17-0 deficit to take a 21-17 advantage after scoring three straight touchdowns to start the second half, suffered its seventh straight loss. The Indians rushed for 296 yards on the day including a 109-yard, two-touchdown performance by L.J. Turner (Palm Bay, Fla.) in the losing effort. Turner's 43-yard run with 9:57 remaining in the fourth quarter gave the Indians the short-lived advantage.
Barton held a 411-323 advantage in total yards while freshman wide receiver
Isaiah Jacobs (Raleigh, N.C.) scored off a blocked punt in the end zone in the first quarter and sophomore linebacker
Shane Perry (Holly Springs, N.C.) led all tacklers with 17 on the day.
Barton hits the road for its final road game of the year next Saturday, November 5, 2022, when the Bulldogs travel to Gaffney, S.C., to take on Limestone beginning at Noon while Catawba hosts Lenoir-Rhyne next Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
