FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Barton women's soccer team (5-8-2) ended its season with a 2-0 loss to Emmanuel (Georgia) (9-8-1) in the opening round of the 2022 Conference Carolinas Championship Wednesday evening at the Stephen Lee Complex.
The Lions, the sixth seed in the tournament, scored both goals in the first 13 minutes of the contest courtesy of Allie Windom (Powder Springs, Ga.) and Viki Lederer (Kötschach, AUSTRIA) and the Bulldogs couldn't recover. Barton came into the contest as the seventh seed in the league championship.
Barton held a 10-9 edge in shots taken but suffered a second loss on the road to the Lions this year. Emmanuel bested Barton by a 3-2 score on Saturday, October 15.

Rachel Cox (Wilson, N.C.) suffered the loss in goal despite three saves. The Lions' goalkeeper, Hannah Thompson (Bogart, Georgia), made four saves to earn the shutout victory.
Emmanuel next travels to Pembroke, N.C., to take on third-seeded UNC Pembroke (14-2-1) in the conference championship quarterfinals on Saturday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
