DUE WEST, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (12-1, 8-1), ranked No. 20 in NCAA Division II, made it six consecutive victories with a 73-40 win over Erskine (0-13, 0-11) Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas game at the Galloway Center and Belk Arena.

Shanika Peterkin (Virginia Beach, Va.) added 13 points and seven rebounds as the Bulldogs triumphed in their fourth straight road contest.
Erskine, still searching for its first victory of the year, was led by Shanece Mitchell (Charleston, S.C.) with 11 points but was the lone player to score in double figures for the Flying Fleet.
Barton, who never trailed in the contest, jumped out to a 39-19 halftime lead and never looked back. The Bulldogs limited the Flying Fleet to just 29 percent shooting (15-of-52) from the field and forced Erskine into 22 turnovers in the win.
Barton remains one game behind Mount Olive in the league standings and remained unbeaten (7-0) on the road this season. Senior guard
Akira Wiggins (Knightdale, N.C.) added nine points for the Bulldogs, who held a 46-34 advantage in rebounding.
Barton remains on the road to take on Emmanuel (Ga.) in Franklin Springs, Ga., on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in a league contest while Erskine hosts Chowan on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m.
